ABOUT

Hi, I'm Marta

I’m an executive and leadership coach and coaching supervisor. I work with leaders and senior professionals privately and through organisations.

I'm also a coach educator, teaching coaching skills to developing coaches and leaders.

My coaching combines psychological depth with forward momentum to create lasting change.

MY STORY

When it's time to define your own version of success

I spent the first 15 years of my career in catastrophe risk management and Big Four consulting, specialising in exposure to natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes.

It was a fascinating world and I cherish those years. I worked alongside some exceptionally talented people, and I loved the intellectual challenge of the work.

Over time, I found myself increasingly drawn to the people side of my work. I enjoyed leading and developing others, and became curious about what helps people grow, navigate challenges and thrive in their working lives. Eventually, I decided to make that the focus of my career.

Having navigated a significant career change myself, I know that finding a new direction is rarely straightforward, even when you know something needs to change.

I still have a particular affinity with clients working in insurance and risk. I understand that world from the inside, including its culture, its people and the pressures of working in the industry.

MY APPROACH

My coaching philosophy

01

Lead yourself before you lead others

Self-leadership means recognising our patterns under pressure and choosing how to respond, rather than falling into familiar habits.

02

Working with the whole person

I believe that lasting change starts with understanding the parts of ourselves we might find difficult.

Perfectionism, self-criticism and people-pleasing often developed for good reasons and may have contributed to our success, until they start getting in the way.

03

Confidence isn't the absence of self-doubt

Working with highly accomplished people has taught me that self-doubt doesn't necessarily disappear with experience or success.

My work helps clients develop a more constructive relationship with it, rather than trying to eliminate it.

04

Leadership doesn't happen in isolation

Having spent 25 years working in and with organisations, I understand how relationships, culture and power influence the way people think, behave and lead at work.

My coaching takes account of the wider organisational context, not just the individual.

THE WAY I WORK

An integrative approach

I don't believe any single model can fully explain the complexity of being human, or the challenges of leadership. My approach draws on different psychological theories and perspectives, drawing on what is useful for the person and the situation rather than trying to fit their experience into a particular framework.

My work is particularly informed by Transactional Analysis, Internal Family Systems, Conscious Leadership and neuroscience. I also draw on emotional intelligence research and tools such as EQ-i 2.0.

EXPERTISE

At the heart of the

coaching profession

Many of my clients have spent years developing real expertise in their own fields, and expect the same commitment from the professionals they work with. Coaching is a field with relatively low barriers to entry, but a high bar to excellence. That's why choosing the right coach matters.

I'm a PCC-credentialled coach, coaching supervisor and coach educator. I supervise other coaches, teach developing coaches as faculty at Animas Centre for Coaching, train experienced coaches to become supervisors, and serve on the board of ICF UK.

These roles allow me to contribute to how the field develops, while keeping me immersed in what makes coaching effective and what excellent, ethical practice looks like.

"Coaching excellence takes more than credentials and experience.

It demands rigorous training, reflective practice, continuous learning and a commitment to the highest professional standards."

SUPERVISION

Supervision is part of my

professional DNA

As a qualified coaching supervisor and member of faculty at the International Centre for Coaching Supervision, my coaching is deeply informed by supervision too.

Supervision is a reflective discipline that helps coaches and leaders think more deeply about their work, holding multiple perspectives rather than prioritising quick solutions.

For me, this means expanding beyond goal-focused, time-limited coaching and working with you as a whole person navigating complexity, including the complexity of your own inner experience. I’m not dispensing answers or offering cookie-cutter frameworks and models. I’m a thinking partner, bringing multiple lenses to our work: theoretical, psychological, systemic and ethical.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

A little more about me

I care a lot about living according to my values, and being a present and available parent is a big part of that. I've spent many years being a leader, studying leadership and working with leaders, but I think parenting is the biggest leadership test of all.

I play tennis, which I've discovered is one of the most effective ways to keep my energy levels up and my mental health in check. Now in my mid-40s, I keep my fingers crossed that I'll be one of those people still happily hitting a ball around the court well into their 80s.

And I make pottery. It's one of the few things that can absorb me completely, giving the other parts of me a proper break, particularly the ones busy navigating life sandwiched between a teenager and ageing parents. If you know me well enough, chances are you'll end up with a wonky mug I've made at some point.

And I have a golden retriever. Many people tell me we look alike.

video interview

Lessons from my own career journey

If you'd like to get to know me a bit more and hear me talk about my own career journey, watch the interview I did for Animas Centre for Coaching, where I work as a coach trainer.

Although the conversation was recorded for coaches building their practice, in my conversation with Brinsley we touch on many topics relevant to anyone building a career on their own terms:

R  important "wake up moments" that changed the course of my career,

R  how creating a career that's a great fit takes experimentation and iteration,

R  what I've learnt about working identity,

R  how common imposter feelings are,

R  how to use everyday emotion for life design.
